Joyashree Roy

Joyashree Roy is currently the Distinguished professor and Director of the Centre on South and South-East Asia Multidisciplinary Applied Research Network on Transforming Societies of Global South at the Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand. She is Founder advisor of Global Change Programme, Jadavpur University. She is listed among the world’s top 2% of influential scientists in the field of Energy as per rankings published by Stanford University in 2023. She was in IPCC-2007 Nobel Peace Prize winning panel and has been coordinating lead author through past three cycles, and the lead author of many global, regional and national and subnational reports. She is in the team of scientists which was awarded the ‘5th Prince Sultan Bin Aziz’ award. She is the recipient of 2021 Paradigm award by Breakthrough Institute of USA. She has published more than 170 peer reviewed papers in Journals and as book chapters and authored books.

Anupam Debsarkar

Anupam Debsarkar is currently Professor of the Environmental Engineering Division of the Department of Civil Engineering at Jadavpur University, Kolkata in India. He joined the University in 1999. Debsarkar's interest in environmental issues began during his student days when he was awarded his Master of Civil Engineering (Environmental Engineering) and Ph.D. (Engineering) by Jadavpur University. He has also served as Assistant Engineer at West Bengal Pollution Control Board. He has been involved as an expert in various committees formed on the broader environmental management and beautification of the city of Kolkata. Dr. Debsarkar has also worked as Research Team Member of “Arsenic Research Group'' of University of California, Berkeley under Prof. Ashok Gadgil. Dr. Debsarkar is engaged in research in the fields of water and wastewater treatment, air and noise pollution, hazardous waste management. Some of his research work includes: indoor air pollution, urban air and noise pollution, air pollution and its health impacts, arsenic contamination in groundwater, especially with respect to management of arsenic-bearing sludge, different types of waste management like municipal solid waste, e-waste, and slaughterhouse waste. In his independent research capacity he has authored 11 book-chapters and published over around 88 articles in peer-reviewed, leading professional journals. He is interested in multidisciplinary approaches to understanding environmental issues.

Sourish Chatterjee
Energy Modeler

Sourish Chatterjee holds a Master of Engineering (M.E.) degree in Illumination Engineering from Jadavpur University, complemented by foundational training in Electronics and Communication Engineering. With an extensive background spanning over 8 years in teaching and 5 years in research, Sourish has been an integral part of the Global Change Programme (GCP-JU) at Jadavpur University, India, for the past 3 years. Currently serving as a Senior Project Fellow, Sourish is actively engaged in the field of open-source energy system modeling under Multi-Country Electricity Transition Potential and Challenge (MCET) and Indian Zero Carbon Energy Pathways (IDEEA) projects. Prior to this, his research expertise delved into the realm of green Visible Light Communication, where he developed mathematical models to advance the understanding of this field. He is proficient in handling large datasets and programming languages such as Matlab, R, & Python, and is experienced in applying machine learning techniques to solve intricate problems. His scholarly contributions include the publication of 8 journals indexed in the Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE) and 5 conference papers indexed in Scopus. He has already submitted his doctoral thesis in 2024 at Jadavpur University.

Arijit Mukherjee

Arijit Mukherjee is currently working as a Senior Research Fellow at the Global Change Programme, under the Indian Zero Carbon Energy Pathways (IDEEA) and Multi-Country Electricity Transition Potential and Challenges (MCET) projects. He is pursuing PhD in the Electrical Engineering Department at Jadavpur University. He completed his MTech from NIT Agartala and another post-graduate programme from the University of Texas, Austin. He has 5 years of research and teaching experience.
