Powering the Global Energy Transition
Building a Decarbonized Future Together
Building a Decarbonized Future Together
Multi-Country Energy Transitions (MCET) network is now part of the RESET Network, an international non-profit network bringing together researchers and decision-makers in the Global South to accelerate just energy transitions tailored to local circumstances with tangible benefits for sustainable development and climate mitigation. You can keep up with our current and future work there.
To keep the world within safe temperature limits1,2, the International Energy Agency (IEA) states that we need to triple renewable energy capacity by 2030. More than 125 countries pledged to achieve this3 at COP28, but each faces unique challenges in planning the path to decarbonization.
Since 2022, the Environmental Defense Fund (EDF), in partnership with experts from 10 countries, has been leading the Multi-Country Energy Transitions (MCET) network. This global alliance of energy modelers, policymakers, and advocates leverages advanced, open-source energy planning tools to identify the best pathways, costs, and financing opportunities for national energy transitions, empowering countries to take bold, informed action toward a sustainable future.
